Mike’s Pastry

One of the best things I ate this past summer was a “Lobster Tail” from Mike’s Pastry located at Boston’s North End. Boston’s North End is truly an Italian experience. The tight streets and shops definitely had some old time feel to it. More importantly, I was in Boston and had to eat a cannoli. After researching many options, Mike’s Pastry was the place.

Mike’s Pastry

It wasn’t difficult to find Mike’s. There were long lines that extended past the door and into the street. A cannoli is an Italian pastry that consists of a tube of fried pastry dough with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta.

I won’t go into too many details, but I pretty much ordered one of every flavor they had that day. I had to try them all so we went through plain, Florentine, espresso, pecan, strawberry, chocolate chip, hazelnut, limoncello, Nutella, chocolate, and amaretto. While peeking into the display, I also noticed wedding cakes and various types of cookies. One thing stood out; Lobster Tail. Normally, I enjoy a nice quiet morning at the Boston piers to check out fresh seafood. No matter what, I was going to get a lobster tail of some kind.

Mike’s lobster tail is a huge cannoli filled with plain filling. It really looked like a lobster tail…or a giant ice cream cone except scalloped to look like a lobster’s tail.

If you’re ever in the Boston area, definitely try Mike’s Pastry and all their goodies.
