I was driving around in Sacramento the other weekend hoping to do a track day at the Sacramento Raceway Park (sacramentoraceway.com) but ended up just watching a few cars go round. Afterwards I was inspired to do some modifications on my MX-5 so I started looking for stores. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday and for some reason many of the stores are closed. I ended up finding a place called Tognotti’s. I didn’t know what to expect. I made it to the parking lot and was very happy to see a bunch of DIY modded cars in the lot.
Once inside was I amazed. Well, maybe that’s because I normally shop at Autozone. Tognotti’s has pretty much everything you might need for a quick weekend project: seats, steering wheels, exhaust parts, body repair, etc. At the same time, they have wheels and engines in stock!
I was attracted to this place because it claimed to be a “import world” but after walking through the store, it seems more of a chevy/mopar type of place with small hints of import. With that said, I did speak to their customer counter people and they can pretty much order anything you need and can have it there in a few days
Another cool part of the store is the library of manuals that they have in stock. Yes, even the imports were there. I was actually surprised at the racing suits and helmets they have in stock. I guess people run here right before they go to the track
The rest of the area around Tognotti’s was full of car dealerships. The only downsize, which I found more funny than anything, was the checkout process. In order to check out, the cashier had to type in each barcode to bring up the item. I can’t imagine what this process would have looked like if I bought more than 20 items. The cashier and I chuckled at the process.
When in Sacramento and needing car parts, head to Tognotti’s
