How to Check Your Air Quality in the San Francisco Bay Area

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) has hourly air quality reports. Check your specific area for air quality before going out. Soot, ash, smoke, and other particulates may affect your health. Air quality can change from city to city, and even sometimes within a city. Remember, a cloth COVID face covering will not protect you from smoke inhalation unless it is specifically fitted with N95 or other fine particulate filtration.

  1. Visit baaqmd.gov
  2. Click on “View the current air quality data”
  3. Scroll down to view your city or area’s air quality reported hour by hour

Today and tomorrow, September 10 and 11, 2020, a Spare the Air Alert is in effect. The best way to stay safe from the unhealthy air is to stay home with your windows and doors closed. Check your county’s health department website for more information.
