Fiddleheads

Fiddleheads look great and taste great too. You probably won’t find them in a grocery store and more towards a farmer’s market. Then the question is how to prepare them.

The first step is to wash them to get out any of the husks and dirt that might be stuck in the fern portion.

In a big bowl/pot, fill it with water and the fiddleheads. I brushed them with my mushroom brush but the dirt and husks easily came out with a quick rub.

Now how to cook them…

Boil water with a little salt.

Add fiddleheads and cook for 8 minutes.

Ice bath them to keep that nice green.

How to use them?

Throw them in a salad.

Stir fry them with olive oil and garlic.

Eat them like that with a little salt.

How do you eat them?
