Are you planning a camping trip? While most people just bring a bag of chips and fruit roll-ups, there are many other ways to prepare delicious meals on your camping trip. Staying healthy while you’re enjoying the outdoors can be simple, tasty, and satisfying.
Here are eight easy meals that you should consider packing up before your next camping trip:
Tacos
Grab some pre-made taco shells and pack in your favorite meat, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and hot sauce. To cook, place inside aluminum foil with holes poked in it to let the flames from your campfire touch the food. Let it heat up for 5 minutes or so (may vary depending on the intensity of the fire), and enjoy!
Hot Dogs
Hot dogs in a bun never fail to satisfy a hungry camper. However, campfire hot dogs are even better. Just grab your favorite pack of franks and take a couple of whole buns. Slice each side in half lengthwise (like slicing bread for garlic bread) but not all the way through. Then you can open it up and put in your franks and your favorite condiments. Wrap up in aluminum foil; cooking time typically takes about 10 minutes, depending on the intensity of your fire.
Noodles
Bring a variety of instant noodles, and you can have delicious meals in no time. Just boil water, add boiling water to the bundle of noodles you brought, and wait for a few minutes. You can also try this Hakka noodles recipe, and it will become a favorite.
Banana Boats
Grab two ripe bananas, a couple of squares of chocolate, and marshmallows for this easy camping favorite. Simply cut the banana longways with about an inch or so left uncut at the bottom to keep it closed. Add your fillings, wrap in aluminum foil and cook over the campfire for about ten minutes.
Macaroni & Cheese
Grab a box of macaroni & cheese, and mix in some hot dogs cut into smaller pieces. Cook on the campfire grate for 10 minutes, occasionally stirring so it doesn’t burn on one side. Once hot throughout, eat immediately!
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Buttered fresh bread is a camping trip essential as grilled cheese sandwiches are pretty perfect as well. Grab a stick or two and spread the butter on one side of each slice. Apply your favorite cheeses to one piece, then place another slice on top with the buttered side out. Grill until browned – enjoy!
Pancakes
Bring your favorite pancake mix along with you, or just grab some flour, baking powder, and milk from your local store. Add the ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and mix thoroughly to form a batter. If it’s too thin, add some more flour as needed, as well as a dash of salt, vanilla extract, and sugar. Throw some on your campfire grate for 5 minutes or so until they’re cooked thoroughly inside!
Root Beer Float
Grab a couple of liter bottles of root beer and some ice cream. Pour the root beer into a container and place it inside your cooler with the ice cream on top. Wait about 20 minutes for it to become slushy without any stirring. Then enjoy your refreshing root beer float!
There You Have It
Whether it’s for a day trip or an overnight, plan ahead and have delicious food ready to go when you get back from your adventure. Pack the ingredients in advance, so you don’t forget anything! Happy camping, everyone!
