Taiyaki at Uji Time Dessert

Taiyaki is a traditional Japanese treat that has been around for centuries. It is a fish-shaped waffle filled with sweet red bean paste, custard, chocolate, or cheese and cooked in special taiyaki pans. The batter used to make the waffles consists of wheat flour, eggs, and sugar. Taiyaki can be served plain or topped with ice cream, whipped cream, or other delicious toppings to create an even more decadent snack. Whether you’re looking for something unique to try on your next trip to Japan or just want a tasty treat at home, taiyaki is sure to please!

We get ours at Uji Time Dessert. Uji Time Dessert is an iconic ice cream and dessert cafe that offers a wide array of traditional Japanese desserts, ice cream, and taiyaki (fish-shaped waffle) soft serve. Founded in April 2016 in the Bay Area, Uji Time Dessert quickly became popular for its unique and interesting flavors like Tofu, Purple Yam, Lychee, Black Sesame, Matcha and more. Their ice cream mochi and their taiyaki soft serve have become Instagram sensations.

At Uji Time Dessert they blend elements from multiple traditional desserts to create something new that is affordable yet delicious. Depending on the season they offer limited edition ice creams such as strawberry rose or lavender ice cream. Additionally they also serve Earl Grey puddings and hot drinks like Matcha Latte or Hojicha. In 2022 they opened two additional stores in Seattle, Washington and Albuquerque, New Mexico to bring their delectable treats to even more people and to continue seeking opportunities to serve customers everywhere.

No matter where you go in Japan or the US you can always find something special at Uji Time Dessert that satisfies your sweet tooth cravings with a delicious twist!

You can get other things there like boba but we love the taiyaki.
