Little Luccas

According to Lucas Peterson, host of Dining on a Dime, a visit to or from the San Francisco airport is not complete without stopping by Little Lucca Specialty Sandwich Shop in South San Francisco. The shop, affectionately known as Little Lucca’s, is famous for its cheap and overstuffed Italian deli sandwiches that are filled with meats like prosciutto, capocollo, and salami, cheese, and the shop’s special garlic sauce. It’s not uncommon to see lines out the door, so ordering ahead is always a smart move.

What makes Little Lucca’s stand out from other delis and has Peterson raving, is the use of “Dutch crunch” bread in their sandwiches. This bread is made by applying a rice paste, giving it a unique leopard-like appearance and a chewy texture. Join Peterson as he tries some of these massive and delicious sandwiches, each one bigger and better than the last.
