Go Poke Bar

I’m still on my quest for really good Poki. This round I tried Poke Bar in LA. It seemed like the same process like WikiPoki where you line up and start off with white rice, brown rice, or salad. This time, I brought Ethan to see how he would react but more to see what he would order. I’m glad I did.

It really is a Poke Bar. I’m not sure what to say about what was really different than WikiPoki. I even kept it simple this round and made my poki tuna only with their house sauce. Maybe that was it. I wasn’t impressed with the house sauce. I think it could have used a little bit more of a kick. Ethan commented that he’d like the fish to be marinated because there wasn’t a depth of flavor in the meat. He must be used to the marinated fish from Safeway.

There were some things that I liked…the portions were great. Not too much rice and the right amount of fish. I liked how the crab salad wasn’t full of mayonnaise. Other than that, I think everything else was pretty much the same as WikiPoki.

Time for me to order some fish from Hawaii.
