Giant Robot Duel: USA vs Japan

Not sure if any of you were able to watch the giant robot duel where the USA and Japan put up a robot to battle it out. It was labeled as:

BEHOLD, THE WORLD’S FIRST GIANT ROBOT DUEL, BETWEEN MEGABOTS, INC (USA) AND SUIDOBASHI HEAVY INDUSTRY (JAPAN)! Science fiction fantasies become reality as gigantic robots, piloted by their creators, go head-to-head in this historic battle!

What Really Happened

I was holding my breath in anticipation of this event. I guess I should have relaxed a little. Maybe it’s me and because I’ve been watching Battle Bots reruns over the past couple of weeks but this was a complete waste of 26 minutes of my life. Here, I was expecting some kind of Gundam style of fighting and what I got was something more of two senior citizens battling it out on their electric wheelchair. I’ve had more fun at demolition derbies. The best thing on this show was Mari Takahashi @atomicmari

I expected something a little more like this:

And all I got was this:

I’m not ragging on the old because this is one of my best scenes ever:

Well, whatever the case. I was slightly disappointed especially after the first round where the robot from Japan just pushed over the robot from the USA. I was hearing commentary from other news sources saying that, yes, of course the USA won. It was more of a battle of who could talk more trash than actual robot fighting. ‘m sure that one of these days we’ll have a faster looking battle with Battle Bot type of robots that weigh in at 12 tons. I guess one can only dream.

For now, I’ll just to back to watching reruns of Battle Bots.
