Leap of Faith

Finding the right people to do the job is always a difficult task. I’ve found that we should not always follow Yelp ratings. I’ve been to many 2 star places that should have been rated at 5. I think today’s internet life has totally changed the way we look for services and restaurants.

However, sometimes Yelp can be right. I had a need to put vinyl stripes on one of my cars. The shops near me gave me quotes. I reviewed the quotes and compared it to Google and Yelp reviews along with random forums on the best places to go for stripes. For some reason I wasn’t happy with anything that I found near me. I then had an opportunity to be in Los Angeles for a week. To me, LA is the place to go to do anything car related. So I searched down there too. This round, I tried Yelp’s quote feature. This is where you select a few companies and then put your request for them to quote on that kind of service.
I received a few responses – not as much as I expected. Most of the responses said something to the effect of “that will cost __.” This is where you can feel the customer service part of a company. One of the responses stood out for a few reasons:

  1. Responded quickly
  2. The person introduced themselves by name
  3. Gave me a quote
  4. Listed what needed to happen next

For some reason the other responses did not seem genuine. For some reason I did not do additional research, better business bureau, Google reviews, etc… I’m about 400 miles away from this company and because of the authenticity in the response I decided to just go with it. We exchanged a few more messages about what I was looking for and settled on some dates. Mind you, it was a tight window. Showing up on a Monday, ordering parts to hopefully be there by Wednesday and then an install to happen on Thursday.
In the end, I could not have been happier. The results are far better than what I initially wanted. In the end, I’m so glad I met Alonso at Evolution Motorsport. He kept me information about my car.

Okay, let’s take a tangent for a minute. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, wanted to put vinyl stripes on my car, and decided on a company 400 miles away. That’s my leap of faith and I would do it all over again. Well, more like I will because the quality of his work is amazing.

Unfortunately, at the time I did not know of the other services they provide. Had I known, I would have done so much more.

If you’re in California and want a vinyl wrap on your vehicle or some other object, I recommend visiting them.
