Thieves look to make a speedy escape, which is why it’s always a good idea to turn your wheels towards the curb or towards another car. This little trick will make a speedy getaway that much harder, and as a result, may act as a preventative against theft. Thieves tend to be smart and know what signs to look out for, so something as small as this could have a big impact.

Add a steering wheel lock

A steering wheel lock will also act as a deterrent. A thief will see the lock and will realize that it will be that much harder to steal your car. It takes a while to remove a steering lock and probably is not worth the thieves’ time. Most thieves are opportunists so deternants like this work wonders.

Invest in a car tracker

Adding a car tracker to your car may also act as another deterrent if it is noticed by thieves. If it is not noticed then it may make finding your vehicle if it is stolen, that much easier to achieve. If your car is taken, you want to be able to find it, don’t you? And a handy gadget like this can make that process much easier.

Keep valuables hidden

Don’t tempt thieves by leaving values on show. Most thieves are opportunistic, and if they see a valuable on show, they will take it. If you leave your SatNav or phone on show, you are risking your car’s security as a result. Don’t make this mistake; always ensure that all valuables are left out of sight.

Add CCTV

For when your vehicle is parked at home, ensure that you have adequate CCTV coverage in place. If thieves know that they are being watched, then the chances are that they are going to be less likely to break into your car and steal it. After all, no one wants to get caught, do they?

There are lots of steps that you can take to keep your car secure, it’s just a case of taking the time to look into what the best options are for you and your vehicle.
