3 Top Recipes for Winter

As the winter nights are starting to draw in, so does our need for comfort food. There is nothing better than snuggling on the couch under a blanket and smelling gorgeous, warming food cooking. These 5 winter recipes will not only keep you warm but will also provide a healthy comfort food option.

Macaroni Cheese with a buttery crumb

Everyone loves the comforting food that is macaroni cheese, and this feel-good mixture had to make an appearance on the top 5 winter recipes. Macaroni has been a family favorite for generations now, and there have been many additions that only enhance the flavor of the meal. Some of the favorite additions are; crispy bacon, different types of cheese, and vegetarian meat alternatives.

This recipe involves creating a crust similar to that of a crumble to sprinkle on top of the macaroni cheese before going into the oven. The crust hardens and creates a difference in texture from the soft cheese and macaroni.

Adding different ingredients elevates our comfort food to a whole other level.

Brisket recipes

Brisket is a staple for winter recipes. The fact you can allow brisket to be cooked for a long time to enable it to fall apart in your mouth makes this meat one of the must-haves during winter. The joy of brisket is that you can put it in the oven on low in the morning, and it will be cooked to perfection by the time you sit down after work for dinner.

There are many different recipes for brisket that result in different tastes and textures, so brisket can be enjoyed at all times throughout the year. However, preparing and cooking the brisket does cause some concern. Some people believe in leaving the fat cap on, whereas some believe in taking it off. Regardless, it still tastes amazing.

As expected, such a hugely popular cut of beef results in many recipes, however, one of the winter favorites is smoked brisket. Try this brisket recipe for smoked brisket.

Beef Stew

Another hearty meal that is instantly warming is the beef stew. There are many joys of creating stews, such as; being able to use any vegetables lying around, being able to put everything into the slow cooker and return from work having a ready-cooked meal. Beef is such versatile meat allowing many different flavors to be released and infused when cooking.

A winter favorite is beef stew with red wine, onions, and potatoes. The flavors of beef and red wine match perfectly and release delicious aromas. Despite the dish containing wine, the length of time the stew cooks will reduce the alcohol content in the wine, just leaving the flavors behind.

As with most winter recipes, there are loads of recipes available online to enable you to make the best-tasting stews, although making stews is very easy. As with all stews, you can add dumplings, vegetarian or otherwise, to add a delicious stickiness to the meal. These are very easy to make and can be popped into the stew half an hour before you are ready to eat to ensure they are cooked through.
